Opening your storybook…
Little Fables is a small family shop, not a platform. There are no ads in the books or the reader, no analytics on the site except the book page and its thank-you page (below), and there is nobody to sell your data to.
Only what you type into the intake form: your email and order number, your child’s first name and age, what they love, a story about them in your own words, who else should appear in the book, and the one thing that’s been sticky for them lately. Optionally, a few photographs: your child, and things or pets you want drawn right.
If you order on our site, checkout also gives us your name, email, shipping address, the amount you paid and any discount code, and whether you ticked the box to hear from us. We keep that order record so we can post the book and answer questions about it. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us.
You give us this about your child; we never collect anything from a child directly. The reading app itself asks children for nothing.
We use it as a drawing reference. Someone looks at it while writing the art direction, and it is used as a reference by the illustration tools we draw in. The result is an illustration inspired by your child — not a photograph of them, and not a traced copy.
It is never published, never sold, never used in our shop listings or marketing, and never shown to anyone outside the work of making your book.
The intake asks for up to five photos, and they are not treated the same way. The one that matters is the photo of your child.
We keep that one while we’re making the book, because we need it. When your book is delivered we send you a link where you choose: delete it, or keep it on file so a second book can reuse the same character without you sending it again. We keep it for six months at most from when you sent it, because children change fast; after that we delete it, whatever you chose, and a new book starts from a new photo.
If you don’t reply, we delete it. Silence gets the private outcome, not the convenient one. If you choose to keep it, you can go back to that same link any time and have it deleted — the choice isn’t a one-time question.
Deleting removes it from our storage and our working files, and we delete the image-tool chats it was used in (OpenAI keeps deleted chats for up to 30 days). We keep the order record so we know a book was made and a photo was deleted, which is the only way we can answer you if you ask.
Your answers to the questionnaire are kept while we make the book. Once it’s delivered, we ask whether you want them kept securely for a future book. If you’d rather not, we delete them. Either way, email us any time and they go.
The other slots are photos of things — a bedroom, a team badge, a favourite jersey, your pet. Those we keep, so a second book matches the first without you photographing the same shirt twice. They are not covered by the automatic delete, and we would rather say so than imply a promise we don’t keep. Email us and we’ll remove them.
The people who help us run the shop, and nobody else:
We advertise the printed book on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest, and those ads link to littlefables.app/book. That page, and the thank-you page you see after paying on our site (littlefables.app/book/thanks), load the Meta Pixel and the Pinterest Tag; no other page does. They tell Meta and Pinterest that someone arrived from an ad, whether they played the video with sound, which order button they used, and, on the thank-you page, that a purchase was made and for how much, so we can see which ads work and show them again to people who clicked. Meta and Pinterest may use cookies to recognise your browser.
When you pay on our site, our server also tells Meta and Pinterest about that one purchase directly, so it counts even if your browser blocks their tags. That report carries the amount, the browser identifiers their cookies already set, your IP address and browser type, and a scrambled (hashed) form of your email, name, city, state and zip code, which they can match to an account but cannot read back. It never includes anything from the questionnaire, the photo or the book.
Nothing you type into the intake, nothing about your child, and nothing from the reader is ever sent to them. The intake, the reader and every other page load no tracking at all. Your browser’s tracking protection or an ad blocker will stop both tags (not the purchase report our server sends), and the pages work the same without them.
Email hello@littlefables.app and say so. You don’t need a reason and we won’t ask for one. We’ll delete your intake, the photo, and the book from our systems, and confirm when it’s done. Anything already downloaded to your own device is yours and stays there.
